Ok dudes and dudesses.
Anyone who hasn't been under a rock for the past 30 years knows Star Wars well. And one of the most prominent figues
in the saga, Darth Vader, has always had an aura of mystery around him. Like what was beneath the mask. In Episode
III, we learn how the Republic becomes the Empire, how Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader, Chancellor Palpatine's transformation
into Emperor Palpatine, and of course, the fall of the mighty Mace Windu; the only black Jedi in the saga. This is my
first review of a movie still in theaters, so bear with me if i'm not perfect. I'll rate this move based on the standards
of previous Star Wars films.
Story - 5
Perfect. As always the saga continues boldy. All the questions that had once been present are now gone.
The movie connects Episodes 1 and 2 to Episodes 4, 5, and 6 perfectly.
Action - 5
Star Wars is known for action, and Episode III delivers. One of the reasons for the saga's first PG-13 rating.
Star Fighting - 5
Aside from the first 30 minutes of the film, there is little action in space. It would make sense for there to
be star fighting in a movie called Star Wars. But still, the 30 minutes of it are more than enough to satisfy.
Jedi Action - 5
I'd give it more, but I can't. Episode II put Jedi in a position never before seen. Jedi had always been
few in number, and therefore prestigious. They return to their role as there are but two Jedi alive at the end of the
film. Jedi v.s. Sith, as it should be. Count Dooku vs Skywalker, Grevious vs Kenobi, Palpatine vs Windu, Sidious
vs Yoda, and of course, Skywalker vs Kenobi. Jedi action is flawless yet again.
Music - 5
Star Wars has always had a killer soundtrack. Which creates drama and elevates the scenes to a great extent.
Episode III will not let you down.
Comedy - 5
As always, R2-D2 is the star. I mean, he takes on a Buzz Droid in the middle of a dogfight, and two, count em two
Super Battle Droids and flies away victoriously. The first half of the movie is very light. Very entertaining.
Ending - 5
As always, Star Wars films go out with a bang. I almost didnt want the ending credits to come on. I wish
they hadn't....
Still, Episode III smoothly connects the first two Episodes to the last three.
Overall - 5 out of 5
The only part of the film I did not approve of, was Count Dooku's unclimactic demise. You'd think the death of
a Sith Lord would have more drama to it, but no. Not even some nice ambient music. Dooku was one of my favorite
Sith Lords, the curved Lightsaber gave him a flair that all of Vader's mystery can't top. Still, great flick.
Not for kids (Dark Side is far too scary for them), but for Star Wars fans, its the perfect way for the saga to end.
Or should I say continue.....
Technically Episode VI was the end,....
I hate technicalities. Anyway, go see the movie. Contrary to popular belief and rumor, tickets shouldn't
be sold out.
And with that, Joe must retire...
